A few updates

Yes, still alive and kicking. I have been busy testing the player and the remote on the latest iOS5 and the Mac OSX Lion (10.7.2). I’m happy to say that they should run smoothly as is. Please report if you face problems and we’ll resolve them.

You might have noticed from the Twitter feed that an iPhone version is also coming, so please let me know if you are interrested in becoming a BETA tester for it.

Remofy support

Apparently the player does not work in Mac OSX 10.5… heard this through the grapevine. Unfortunately I do not own a mac “that old”, although XCode can aid in this. The player has been tested on Mac OSX release 10.6.5, hence for now, it is the only platform officially supported.

So, users and abusers, if you have any issues with the player or the remote, please shout me a holler by adding a comment to this topic and the doctor will attend to it what can be done with it. Also do check out remofy.com every once in a while for any updates and bug fixes.

The morning has dawned

It is almost unbelievable… Remofy has finally passed the scrutiny at Apple. Got to admit some of the delay was due to yours truly as summer holidays kept me mostly outside and away from the computer, but hey go grab yours.

Also note that the player has been updated, so if you have downloaded it previously go ahead and re-download it.

For all, happy Remofying and if you find bugs (most likely some of the nasty buggers have found their way to the software) do report them… also if you have a cool feature for Remofy, the good doctor is all ears.

Butterflies

And I just don’t me the ones flying around as summer is finally starting to make its way. The good doctor actually has some jitter in the stomach as the Remofy app has now been submitted for review to the Apple store. A really big hand to all the BETA testers. Also my graphics designer Mr. Pasi Lehtinen deservers a huge hand for making Remofy look so cool!!

You can bet your Spotify lovin’ heart that I will spread the news once the app has passed the tight scrutiny of the review process - until then stay tuned.

Could it be?

It almost brings a smile to my face, it seems that the BETA phase is turning to an end. When I say almost, I do mean it. I want to stay focused for the last leg and make sure that the initial version that goes out is nothing of spectacular. We still have some graphical tweaks, but the functionality is there. I must say that in terms of usability I’m quite happy how it turned out. I have left some features to the next version, such as playlist content manipulation and of course iPhone support.

So, stay tuned…

Phew, its about time

As stated in my previous post, I did some re-wamping of the searching functionality. Well, that turned out to be some what more extensive then I originally thought, in the process I added some new cool stuff in the mix as well:

  • Easy navigation between playlists, i.e. back and forward
  • Faster startup times as the whole library is not synced in one gigantic blow
  • UI polishings here and there (again, screenshots will be posted)
  • Bug fixes (hope I did not make any new ones in the process… )

BETA peeps can pick up their copy as usual. Others, be patient for a little while longer as the BETA phase is drawing to a close in the near future.

When you are not happy, change it

I was starting to get an uneasy feeling using the current search functionality in Remofy – it felt disconnected – somehow. I really could not put my finger on it, but the user experience was not up to par with the rest of the functionality. My gut feeling was backed up by a few comments from the BETA tester, so slearly a a change was needed.

What I’m now preparing is a more of unified look and feel through out Remofy when it comes to tracks and track listings. This should help make the user feel more at home when searching for new tracks of browsing existing playlists. Also the table that presents the tracks has received a facelift. Screenshots will be posted in the near future.

Calling this point four (0.4)

Once again the world of software engineering has proven its might. The pattern of throwing out the first version of “module-x” raises its head. I had to say goodbye the the initial version of the Remofy connection handling and logic, this new version relies on NSStreams to do most of the heavy lifting and it should be more suitable for Remofy’s needs – for now… Also the release contains some usability improvments

  • Volume bar graphics (evidently they had been dropped out by accident)
  • Better now playing indication in the popup list
  • Search results are reduced, so that they do not clutter the popup
  • The big pause icon is now clickable, i.e. it resumes playback (this was actually a feature requested by our beautiful beta peeps)

Effectively this means that BETAers can go and download a new spanking release, again if you want to be on the BETA phase, do drop me a line.

Bug squatting

Splät – we keep making the software better, thanks to the brave volunteers! A new Remofy player version is available, and for the BETA peeps, you know the drill for getting the new software to your iPad as well – if you don’t, send me an email and I’ll run it by you once more.

The player has now been updated

The Remofy player has now been updated, please get yours. The feature set include

  • Multi player support, i.e. multiple players in the same network
  • Search (Artist, Track, Album)
  • Browsing (Artist, Album)
  • Bug fixes…

To get the best advantage of these features, you need to latest remote as well… so do enroll into the BETA program
